In 2013, Marvin Gaye’s estate sued Robin Thicke, T.I. (Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr.), and Pharrell Williams, claiming that their smash hit “Blurred Lines” stole from Gaye’s 1977 song “Got to Give It Up,” as well as from Funkadelic’s “Sexy Ways” from 1974. Though Thicke and Pharrell were found guilty as songwriters, there are no proven musical similarities between the two songs. The jury was influenced by the “feel” and “groove” of the two works, components that are not protected under copyright law. Many musicians and legal experts were concerned that this decision set a dangerous legal precedent and blurred the lines of what musical elements are protectable.

Then you can go to bed knowing you pushed your music career a little further forward.
As a singer, keeping your voice hydrated is arguably the most important thing you can do to ensure proper vocal health. But vocal hydration doesn’t just mean drinking a lot of water — it’s about what you eat, the habits you keep, and knowing how your body processes what you’re putting into it throughout the day.
I dial the threshold to where I’m only getting about 1-3 dBs of gain reduction on the peaks of the audio. I tend to keep it on the lower side of 1-2 dBs of gain reduction. You just want to kiss the needle. You don’t want to have to much mix buss compression happening. Remember, we are going for a subtle, “glue-like” effect.
